I’ve done it again. Discover another pattern, obsess over it and proceed to make it ten different times. It really is an an addiction. I can’t help myself. I find a pattern that just WORKS for me. And I run with it. I mean, really run with it.
It started with the Birthday Geranium, then I just had to make a Christmas Geranium, then I just happened to have an extra 3/4 yard of leftover fabric from a baby quilt and couldn’t resist making an oh-so-adorable 3-6 month size dress for a dear friend’s new baby.
Then I so loved that dress, that I ended up making a larger version for the babe in the same fabric. And she wore it for the first time this Mother’s Day. And it just made my heart smile. Because what’s better than watching your babe running around the yard barefoot in her new handmade spring dress. Nah much, in my opinion.
We tested it out on the swings… check!
and walking with papa… double check!
and running around the park…
And it was just the perfect “doing the vacuuming on the front porch while sporting your new bucket hat” dress.
The pattern: Made by Rae’s Geranium Dress
The fabric: Aneela Hoey’s Posy Meadow
The size: 18-24 month
The mods: No mods (can’t mess with perfection), but I made the gathered skirt version with the capped sleeves. Love the pattern, love this version.
The verdict: I love the dress so much I’m already planning another one. See, its a real sickness…
And the final shot of the day…. bucket hat tossed aside, pigtails coming undone, vacuum still in hand, but taking a rest and enjoying the rest of the evening sunlight before dinner.
btw, the bucket hat is this pattern. Absolute fav summer hat pattern. I made a sized 2T for the babe this summer (although her large noggin barely fits into it) – with some sweet leftover blue chambray and the fabric leftover from last season’s ice cream blouse.
